Bashang is a large grassland 300 kilometres north of Beijing in Hebei province after hours of hard driving. In the autumn, shades of gold, red and green suffuse the mountains and forests, as silvery birches prop up a golden canopy towards the sky. Small lakes shine like emeralds in the meadow and gorgeous clouds hover overhead.
