Jeremy Garelick and Jay Lavender, the screenwriters behind "The Break-Up," will make their directorial debut on "The Golden Tux," a comedy for Dimension Films that will star Dan Fogler.

"Tux's" story centers on a lonesome guy about to get married and the unique friendship he forges with the man he hires to pose as his best man.

"Tux" was the script that introduced Garelick and Lavender to Hollywood in 2002, when it was set up at Dimension. Over the years, the project saw several actors and directors try it on for size, with the duo tailoring the script for them.

"We've definitely come full circle," Garelick said. "It was the first thing we sold. It's been five or six years, but now we'll be able to make it and have it be our vision."

Lavender said working together at the directorial level won't be a problem for them. "We started working at CAA together, we played sports on teams together, our personalities matched well. We know how to give and take, and we've developed a shorthand."

Universal's "Break-Up" -- directed by Peyton Reed and starring Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston -- has earned more than $200 million worldwide. In the wake of that success, the duo sold two more comedy projects to Universal in a seven-figure deal.

Fogler won the 2004 Tony for featured actor in a musical for his performance in "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." He most recently appeared in Dimension's comedy "School for Scoundrels" and next appears in the comedies "Balls of Fury" and "Fanboys."
