Wang Rong is a mainstream Chinese artist who is popular in both the mainland and Honk Kong music business. She became famous after the release of her 2002 debut song ¡°wo bu shi huang rong¡± who was the heroine of a famous Chinese kung fu novel. This album: "Much Love" is her third album and was quite a large success. Her songs are mainly upbeat RnB and hip hop genre. She sings with a clear voice and puts much emotion into what she sings. She¡¯s not like other female solo singers in both the style of her voice and the types of songs that she sings. She not only writes songs for herself but for others aswell since her college years.
The song that starts off this album is called (ai ya) which is a great opening. Fast, upbeat with a rap in the middle (which coming from a girl isn¡¯t bad ), (much love) follows this song which is the title of the album. The beat is slowing down and my expectations were pretty high for this song (as it IS the title of the album), somehow this song reminded me of a destiny¡¯s child song but kudos to her for reaching the high notes. The song "invincible" is another upbeat song in the same category as these two.
"boiled fish" is the name of a quite famous dish in china- Fish Boiled In Spicy Soup- and is a very different song to most that I¡¯ve heard. Very upbeat song in the middle that cuts to my favourite bit in this song in which there¡¯s a dialect between a girl and a man talking in area dialect which I had to try and decipher but this girl knows what she¡¯s singing about "I love you just like I love eating boiled fish¡± is a great line though not the comparison I would use to compare love
There¡¯s already been a discussion about the song "dad and mum" but this song is pretty much aimed at her parents, thanking them for their support and telling them not the worry that their beloved daughter is growing up and entering the world of ¡®adulthood¡¯
"little girl what are you doing" starts off with her singing English and is a very rappy, hip-hop song. Same applies to the song "I¡¯m not a beautiful woman".
The song °®ËÆÉñÏÉ- ai shi shen xian (love is immortal) is one of my favourites in the album. It is one of her slow songs in this album and uses an array of Chinese instruments. Tells the story of bitter love stated in the lyrics: ¡°how is love immortal? [It] let¡¯s people both cry and laugh and also prevents people from seeing [the truth]¡±
¡°I am sorry¡± is another one of the slow songs in the album and the title of the song more or less tells us what the general jist of the song is about, very emotional lyrics and she puts on a very convincing performance.
Not sure what¡¯s really going on in the song , but it¡¯s pretty much a rap song with little kids singing a children¡¯s song inbetween all her rapping- It¡¯s pretty cute.
