Beijing is host to the largest number of bars in China.
Their
guests mostly include foreigners visiting China's capital,
international students, native Chinese businessmen, other white-collar
workers, artists, college students, people from the entertainment
industry or any other people with both time and money.
Most of Beijing's bars are well decorated, complete with obliging and attentive services.
Each
bar has its own special theme, both musically and aesthetically, and
customers can choose where to go according to their tastes and/or mood.
The
variety of bars to be found in China's capital city include a bus bar
built in a deserted bus, a football bar specializing in all things
football, and a movie bar in which you can sit down to watch a flick.
There is also the artists' bar with its artsy atmosphere, the museum
bar filled with license plates and of course net bars where you can
surf online.
Following is an introduction to the eight bars most favored by women in Beijing.
Name: Suzie Wong / 苏茜黄

Photo: Xuntu.com
Intro: This bar shares its name with Suzie Wong, a party girl
from 1930's Shanghai. Thus, 'Suzie Wong' stands for lust, revelry, and
general debauchery. The bar is said to be the most corrupt in Beijing.
Christopher Doyle (杜可风), the favorite cameraman of renowned Hong Kong
film director Wong Kar Wai (王家卫), used to indulge himself here.
Climbing the bar's spiral stairs to their end, you will find a soft
bed. Like Wong Kar Wai's film "Chong Qing Sen Lin"(重庆森林) and "Ashes of
Time,"(东邪西毒) Suzie Wong leads a befuddled life: People get drunk and
fall asleep, thus temporarily forgetting both life and death. Because
of its unique style, many charming beauties visit here.

Name: Ou Thai Restaurant / 藕

Intro: "There is no eternity in love, but exceptions once in a
while." Simple as it is, this phrase shakes the hearts of sentimental
women. They cannot help but open the door and at least have a look.
Thus is the everlasting temptation of love for women. Ou Thai
Restaurant is a place for women to dream. Its iron chairs and colorful
cushions contribute to this restaurant's sentimental atmosphere. This
Beijing hotspot attracts both narcissistic and sentimental beauties.

Name: Lotus Café and Goodies / 莲花

Intro: If, while walking along Yandai Xiejie alley, you gaze up
and a window astonishes you, it must belong to Lotus Café and Goodies.
Women love this Beijng hideaway for many reasons. One reason: its
elegant and stylish ornaments, along with the scarves and shawls that
can be found everywhere. The room on the second floor is small and
filled with large furniture in a red and green color palate. Few bars
can mix these two colors together to create the ambience Lotus does.

Name: Greenhouse Café / 温室咖啡

Photo: Sohu.com
Intro: Enter from the gate of Guangfu Taoist Temple and pass by the
various rooms of the café that awaits you there. You will find that
each room, even the patio, has a different view and evokes different
feelings. You are surrounded by the aura of a woman's heart, fickle yet
rich and soft. Every ornament in Greenhouse Café seems random, but is
actually carefully designed. With its touching name, neither women nor
men can resist this Beijing hideaway. Beauties working for fashion
magazines have been regular customers since the bar opened, coming here
to take photographs against its great backdrop.

Name: 7th July / 七月七
Intro: If any Beijing bar can
be described as sweet, it is surely this one. Located outside the
southern wall of Beijing Institute of Technology, 7th July's atmosphere
resembles that of pretty college girls. The pink color, bell of iris
shape and transparent drapery make the bar like some place in dream.
This bar is paradise for young girls.

Name: Cherry Season / 樱桃时节

Photo: Sohu.com
Intro: This bar also goes by another name: Seven and a Half.
Cherry Season greets visitors with a lyric from Han Lei's song: "Are
you tired after walking for so long?" This one line touches the heart
of many a lady with hopes of giving their restless souls some repose.
The outer room of the bar is busy, with bands performing in the
evenings and on weekends, while the inner room is tranquil. A unique
feature is a window painted with a moon as delicate as those in
fairytales. Not many bars in Beijing can juxtapose the busy atmosphere
of a traditional pub with the tranquility of a quiet nightspot as well
as Cherry Season does.

Name: C'est La Vie / 暗店街

Photo: Xuntu.com
Intro: The name of this Beijing hotspot is derived from a famous
novel. Although a relatively small bar, C'est La Vie's red sofa makes
people feel comfortable. Bars in San Li Tun are famous for their
liveliness, even those so-called tranquil bars. However, C'est La Vie
is an exception. Like its Chinese name (Dark Shop Street), it has a
special temperament like the loneliness of a woman with loads on her
mind.

Name: Public Space Bar / 阿尔卑斯啤酒屋

Photo: Sohu.com
Intro: Originally named "White
House," with its black and brown granite bar counters Beijing's Public
Space Bar is as solid and mysterious as castles in medieval times. Deep
red tablecloths and dark green chairs represent the classic mixture of
color in Europe. Similarly uncommon, although in San Li Tun, Public
Space Bar is actually tranquil. It seems this bar is more suitable for
dating. People are attached to this place because of the emotions
attached to memories made here. There is only one singer at Public
Space, thus at night the songs sung here are more like background music
while you yourself serve as master of ceremonies. You don't have to
linger in the past, following this bar's trail of music. Still, it's a
place for you to wonder around in your own spiritual world. For women
who allow their fancies to run wild, Public Space Bar allows for
unbarred expression of oneself.
